The band Monyk’s hard rock alternative sound is heavy and soulful, with beats that resemble the likes of Led Zepplin, STP and Rata Blanca. Although one of the newest Rock en Espanol bands to hit the scene, the group Monyk is made up of several industry veterans.

Monyk (Vocals) brings to the band her strong lyrics and wide range of vocal styles that really rock the house.  Monyk has played just about every venue in LA with her former bands La Nacion, and La Monyk. She has appeared many times on LA TV and has won various “battle of the band” awards both inside and outside the US. Small in stature she takes the stage with lungs of steel putting to shame 80’s hard rock icons like Lita Ford and the likes.  Edward Trujillo (Guitar) formerly of Warhorse, La Nacion & Power Child, has played with Tool, White Zombie, and Mike Ness throughout the western United States.  D.J. Ison (Guitar) formerly of the bands Souls in Tension and Glass Hammer.  This self taught Rock and Blues  influenced guitar player has gone on the road with the Kings Road Band and opened for National acts such as Incubus, Dokken, and LA Guns.  Danilo Scharer (Bass)  formerly of La Nacion & Power Child, has a raw LA style and has been playing in LA at various venues for over 20 years. His ideas and musical arrangement add the deep heart to the bands sound.  James Scharer (Drums)  formerly of Raised on Radio & Power Child has a unique and intricate drum style.   Fast, and complicated drum riffs set this band apart.  All from different backgrounds and cultures, they came together to make one powerful sound. The band plans only to play in Spanish at this point.

While still playing in the band La Nacion; Monyk, Danilo and Edward felt that the chemistry between the three could elevate into something bigger and better.  With that, La Nacion dissolved, and they brought together their talents in addition to enlisting the talents of two of their long time friends. In the end the band Monyk was born.  “We’re brothers and sisters man! We want to make a sound that brings emotion to people’s hearts and thoughts to their minds”  says lead vocalist Monyk.

The band is currently working on their first album together. It’s scheduled for a Summer 2006 release.
